Fans of the British classic rock band Queen and classical music can hear the two collide with composer Steve Hackman’s “Gershwin X. Queen: Bohemian Rhapsody in Blue” performed by the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 18 at the Hilbert Circle Theatre.

Hackman, who will also conduct the performance, has been fusing contemporary and classic music for over a decade, including “Brahms v. Radiohead” and “The Resurrection Mixtape,” which melded Gustav Mahler’s works with those of The Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur.

The Sept. 18 performance celebrates George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue,” which turns 100 this year, and Queen’s 1975 rock-opera hit “Bohemian Rhapsody.”

“Gershwin X. Queen: Bohemian Rhapsody in Blue” is part of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra’s “Uncharted Series.” Tickets begin at $15.
