At the September 26 Pike Township school board meeting, the board reviewed the 2025 budget, alumni highlights and facilities updates.

What happened?

The first part of the meeting was a public hearing for the 2025 budget, 2025-2027 capital improvements plan and 2025-2029 bus replacement plan. Greg Foster, the Pike Township chief financial officer, said the purpose of the hearing is to provide information and allow opportunity for public comment.

“We don’t necessarily have all the facts when we publish the budget. That in mind, we typically advertise high to protect the district,” Foster said. “We cannot adopt over what is advertised.”

Foster said the 2025 budget is available on the Pike Township website to be more transparent.

The Pike Township budget has four categories: the operating referendum, education, debt service and the operations fund. The total 2025 budget is $160.8 million.

What’s in the budget?

Foster said the district will replace six school buses.

Clayton Gruber, Pike Township director of facilities and security, presented the Blue Ribbon plan regarding facility updates. He shared updates on upcoming projects including interior refreshes and roof work at some of the elementary schools.

He said Deer Run Elementary, Fishback Creek Elementary, and the Administrative Building are in line to receive repairs.

Gruber said the plan comes down to three categories: historical data, Superintendent walk-throughs and overall needs.

What’s next?

The board will adopt the budget, capital projects plan, and bus replacement plan at the Oct. 24 school board meeting.

The meeting will be at 7 p.m., Oct. 24 at the Administrative Services Center.
