So, what is everyone doing for child care during the day?
This past week, I have been on the hunt for a day care center and struggling to find quality care.
I’ve toured three places already.
Some are small, with home-cooked meals and plenty of screen time. Others lean into structure with lesson plans and tiny schedules. It’s hard to know the best fit for a 1-year-old.
Then, of course, there is the cost.
The average weekly rate is around $300, which feels like renting an extra apartment just for naptime and snacks.
Other families are having the same problem. Cuts to state-administered pre-K and child care programs are making it even harder for thousands of people and their kids.
I know I’m not the only one searching. If you’ve found a place you love or have helpful tips for surviving the waitlists, I’d love to hear from you. Maybe we can make this child care maze a little easier together.
