Learn about Washington Park’s past as the former site of the Indianapolis Zoo on a guided walk hosted by Indiana Humanities. 

Washington Park was home to the zoo from 1964 to 1987. This summer, the park unveiled $3.5 million in upgrades, including a new playground and splash pad. 

The Trek & Talk event is 2 p.m. Nov. 8 at Washington Park, 3130 E. 30th St. Local author and historian Edward Fujawa will lead the walk. 

Participants will meet at shelter No. 4 near the family center. All ages are welcome and comfortable shoes are recommended. Registration is encouraged but not required. More information can be found online.
