Overview:
This March 10 workshop will take place in person and online.
You can learn how to become a legal observer at a training 6:30-7:30 p.m. March 10.
The training will be conducted by the ACLU of Indiana and the National Lawyers Guild. The address will be provided to registered participants, or you can join online.
Legal observers attend protests as neutral witnesses. They typically wear bright vests or other items that identify them as observers. They document interactions between protesters and police.
Participants can expect to learn about how legal observers are different from advocates, what to look for and document during demonstrations, best practices for not interfering while taking notes, safety considerations and what to do with their notes after an event.
Future trainings and other events will be posted on the ACLU of Indiana’s Mobilize page.
