April is nationally recognized as Arab American Heritage Month.

On April 18, Indy Global Village is hosting an Arab American Festival to celebrate Middle Eastern and North African culture.

The free event will feature local vendors, poetry, music and comedy. Guests can try food from the Arab world and get on the dance floor to be part of a dabke, a traditional folk line dance common in Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Palestine and southern Turkey.

The Arab diaspora is vast. You can learn about our local Arab experiences through the “Colors of the Diaspora” exhibit in the Indy’s Global Village’s welcome gallery. It will display artworks from Sudanese, Jordanian, Palestinian, Syrian and Egyptian artists.
