Take in an afternoon of jazz and support local students at Arsenal Technical High School’s annual Freddie Hubbard Memorial Jazz Fest.
This year’s event runs from 2-8:30 p.m. Feb. 13 and will feature performances from musicians at Arsenal Tech’s Anderson Auditorium, 1500 E. Michigan St.
IPS and the Indianapolis Jazz Foundation organize the festival every year in honor of renowned jazz trumpeter Freddie Hubbard, who is an alumnus of Arsenal Tech.
Student musicians from seven Central Indiana grade schools as well as Butler University will perform works inspired by Hoosier jazz legends, such as Wes Montgomery and David Baker.
The event will culminate with an evening performance by local musician Rob Dixon and friends.
Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door. Concessions will be available. All proceeds benefit the Tech Jazz Band. Students participating in the festival will be eligible for scholarships and other awards.
More information, including ticket sales, is available on the Freddie Hubbard Memorial Jazz Fest website.
