What is it like living and working as an artist in Indianapolis? You can tell us at this special Mirror Indy Chat N Chew

I’ve been Mirror Indy’s arts and culture reporter for five months now. Over that short time I’ve written stories about state budget cuts affecting Indy arts organizations, censorship and Chreece

And I’m eager to write more stories that address artists’ needs. That’s why I’m teaming up with Ariana Beedie, our community journalism director, to host a special Chat N Chew from 6 to 7:30 p.m. July 23 at 10 East Arts.

This event is intended for individual artists only and not arts organizations or administrators. This will be a safe space to speak up and be heard.

We want to hear about the lived experiences of local artists, what’s working or not working, to make sure they are able to thrive professionally.

The breakout sessions will focus on pay equity, intergenerational relationship building, expanding access to local resources and utilizing the media to amplify your work.

At the event, the discussion will be led by creatives: Okara Imani, Chantel Massey, Tatjana Rebelle, Britt Reed and LaShawnda Crowe Storm. The evening will conclude with an interactive visioning session where we explore next steps and opportunities for collaboration.

Mirror Indy will provide food, drinks and music. If you’re interested in attending, please RSVP here
