IndyEast Arts Cultural District wants to turn the near east side into a walkable outdoor gallery through its Art in Unexpected Places program.
The program offers three opportunities: Artists can design storefront vinyl murals, crosswalk murals and visual poetry installations. Artists will be paid $250-2,000.
The artwork will appear on storefronts, fences, sidewalks, crosswalks and alleyways along 10th Street including between Mass Ave, Sherman Drive, Brookside Parkway and Michigan Street.
Art in Unexpected Places, supported by the city and John Boner Neighborhood Centers, was created to highlight local artists and strengthen the cultural identity of the near east side.
You must be at least 18 years old, reside in Marion County and own the copyright to the art. Artists who live or are connected to the near east side are strongly encouraged to apply.
The deadline to submit an application is April 18. Selected artworks will be voted on by the community at a First Friday event May 1. Artists who are selected will be notified by May 30.
