The Indiana Department of Transportation wants to know what you think about a plan to add lanes along Rockville Road just outside Indianapolis.

INDOT is planning to add a third travel lane to westbound and eastbound Rockville Road, also known as U.S. 36, in Avon. Medians and U-turn locations will also be built throughout the project area. The construction could impact traffic into the west side of Indy during construction.

The first phase of construction is expected to begin in 2030 and cost about $27 million. It will be located less than a mile from the city limits, from Shiloh Park Drive, just west of Ronald Reagan Parkway, to Corottman Court, just past the Satori Pointe shopping center.

Construction will include milling, resurfacing and widening the road from two to three lanes in each direction and the installation of new and updated drainage and pedestrian infrastructure throughout the area.
