Three library branches — Central, Nora and Pike — will each receive $6.9 million for needed building improvements, the Indianapolis Public Library Board Of Trustees determined at their September meeting. The Library’s governing body consists of seven Board of Trustees members serving 4-year terms.
Volunteer Resources Supervisor Wendy L. Johnson also highlighted the important and strategic role library volunteers play. Volunteers serve in every library; and nearly all serve regularly. About 350 volunteers donated about 11,000 hours in 2022, the equivalent of about $310,000 of paid work. It’s a “four-way win,” Johnson told the board.
