Community members can volunteer with Hope Packages: Struggle, Unity, Solidarity, an organization that provides resources for people experiencing homelessness. The group is an independent project of the Indianapolis Liberation Center, a social justice nonprofit based in Fountain Square.

Hope Packages provides free winter survival kits that include items such as hats, gloves and hand warmers.

Volunteers will assemble winter survival kits 6:30-8 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 11, at Indianapolis Liberation Center, 1619 Prospect St.

Volunteers will then distribute the winter survival kits 1-2:30 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 14, at Richard G. Lugar Plaza, 200 E. Washington St.

Residents can purchase items from Hope Packages’ Amazon wishlist. Those items are shipped to the Indianapolis Liberation Center. People can also donate to Hope Packages or become a monthly sustainer at varying price points.
