Carson was elected to represent the Indianapolis-based district in the House of Representatives in 2008, after serving on the Indianapolis City County-Council. He has served on the House Intelligence Committee, the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and the Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party. He lives in Center Township.
Legislative priorities include:
- Reforming the justice system and strengthening accountability measures for police officers.
- Ending disparities in health (food deserts, maternal mortality rates).
- Investing in transportation and infrastructure such as roads, rail, bridges and ports.
- Calling for a ceasefire between Israel and Gaza.
