Young was first elected to represent Indianapolis’ west side in 2000. Previously, he served in the Indiana House for 14 years.

Legislative priorities include:

Reducing income and property taxes.
Heightening sentences for those convicted of violent crimes.
Banning abortion in all cases.

Deadlines

Oct. 7: Register to vote

Visit indianavoters.in.gov to register to vote or check your registration. You can also register in person at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles if you’re there to complete another transaction, like renewing your driver’s license.

Oct. 8-Nov. 4: Early voting at the City-County Building

Early voting at the City-County Building starts Oct. 8 and ends at noon Nov. 4. Anyone registered to vote in Marion County can vote at the City-County Building. Bring a valid photo ID with you to vote.

Oct. 24: Request absentee ballot

There are 12 valid reasons to ask for a ballot you can complete at home and drop off or mail in. You can find them listed on the downloadable application form. All absentee ballots have to be submitted by 6 p.m. on Nov. 5.

Oct. 26-Nov. 3: Early voting at eight more vote centers

Eight vote centers across Marion County’s townships are open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, from Oct. 26 to Nov. 3. Anyone registered to vote in Marion County can go to any of the sites to vote. Bring a valid photo ID with you to vote.
