Students all across Indy are wrapping up their spring semesters and getting ready for graduation season.

To celebrate, young writers, poets, painters, sculptors and musicians are celebrating their academic milestones with art shows, literary readings and performances.

You can also celebrate our city’s emerging artists. Here are some events you can attend and enjoy for free.

2025 Arts & Media Showcase

🗓️ 5-7:45 p.m. Wednesday, April 23
📍 Marian University’s Hackelmeier Library, 3200 Cold Spring Road
🎟️ Free

The arts and media showcase includes a carnival with games and the launch of the latest edition of Marian University’s “The Phoenix,” a student newspaper, and “The Fioretti,” a literary journal by students.

Senior Thesis Exhibit 2025

🗓️ 5-6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 24
📍 Butler University’s Jordan College Annex, 5144 Boulevard Place
🎟️ Free

See works by graduating students in visual arts, design, art history and arts administration. If you stick around and walk over to Schrott Center for the Arts, you can also catch a free performance by the student Jordan Jazz singers, performing songs from Grammy-winning vocal group Säje.

Booth Launch Party

🗓️ 6:30 p.m. Friday, April 25
📍 Butler University’s Efroymson Center for Creative Writing, 530 W Hampton Drive
🎟️ Free

Hear published fiction, poetry and nonfiction stories from the latest issue of “Booth.” Plus, enjoy literary activities and light refreshments, and meet the student editors.

Spring Choral Concert

🗓️ 3-4:30 p.m. Sunday, April 27
📍 University of Indianapolis’ Christel DeHaan Fine Arts Center, 1230 Greyhound Lane
🎟️ Free

Enjoy the last choir concert of the semester, featuring UIndy’s Schola, Concert Choir, Treble Choir and Crimson Express choirs. The concert will also be streamed live online.

Genesis Literary and Arts Magazine Release Party

🗓️ 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 30
📍 IU Indianapolis’ University Library, 755 W Michigan St.
🎟️ Free

Join the creative minds behind IU Indianapolis’ student literary journal for a celebration of creativity. Contributors to the latest issue of “Genesis” will discuss their art and read their works. Refreshments will be available.

2025 “Look/Hear” Celebration

🗓️ 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, May 14
📍 Herron School of Art and Design, 735 W. New York St. and at Eskenazi Fine Arts Center 1410 Indiana Ave.
🎟️ Free

This showcase features paintings, sculptures, installation art, design work, scholarly research and more. Explore exhibitions, enjoy light appetizers and beverages, and celebrate Herron’s Class of 2025 as they set out to become visual artists, designers, art educators, art scholars, art therapists, music therapists, musicians, technicians and design strategists.
