IPS is rolling out a new effort to ensure some of its soon-to-be graduates are well positioned for life after high school.

The district’s new “Adopt-a-Senior” program has identified 30 students who need help paying for the supplies they need to move on to their next steps after high school. That could include college, a new job or military service.

The program allows community members to purchase items through a personalized Amazon Wishlist or sponsor larger items, such as a laptop.

Other needs include gift cards and bus passes to support flexible purchases and reliable transportation.

IPS is encouraging participants to team up with coworkers, family members or church groups to rally support for the graduating teens.

To participate, team leaders are asked to fill out an online form to be matched with a student. Individuals can sign up to help, too.

The form provides options; you can help fulfill a care package, shop for a wishlist, donate individual items or become a mentor.

The program is being led by IPS’ Family Resource Center. Participants are asked to deliver their contributions by May 11 ahead of a June celebration event.
