Indy families can get caught up on the big issues in education and how they affect kids in an upcoming community event.

The Mind Trust and EmpowerED Families have organized a series of community conversations to explain the latest developments in high school graduation requirements, student reading scores and absenteeism.

The next meeting in the Beyond the Bell: A Community Conversation about Education series will take place at 4:45 p.m. Feb. 11 at the Shepherd Community Center, 4107 E. Washington St.

Spanish and Haitian Creole translation will be available. Child care will be provided.

Dinner will be served starting at 4:45 p.m. and a panel discussion will begin at 6 p.m.

The event is free. Families can register online on The Mind Trust’s website.

Additional meetings in the series will take place on March 18 at the Fay Biccard Glick Neighborhood Center and on April 22 at the Global Village Welcome Center.
