At the state level, local school districts are among the many public institutions set to lose funding as part of Republican Gov. Mike Braun’s property tax reductions. And lawmakers cut $38 million used to cover the cost of medical care at Eskenazi Health for low-income or uninsured patients.
At the federal level, President Donald Trump’s massive budget law makes cuts to Medicaid and other programs.
The “Uphold the People’s Promise” town hall is where you can learn more about those budget cuts and what to do if you want to get involved.
The event will include a panel with speakers from the Indiana Justice Project and Feeding Indiana’s Hungry. Democratic Sen. Andrea Hunley will also be part of the panel, along with others.
Common Cause Indiana is a nonpartisan group, so the town hall won’t include endorsements of candidates or political parties.
There will be free pizza and non-alcoholic drinks starting at 5:30 p.m.
