The Marion County Public Health Department has launched a new online program to help residents with mental health.

The confidential tool, CredibleMind, has a library containing thousands of free resources, including meditations, guided programs and assessments for mental health conditions. It also includes a list of local providers for counseling, crisis support, substance use treatment, shelter and food access.

Community members listed mental health as a top concern in a recent survey, the health department said. In 2022, researchers at IU Indianapolis found that more than two thirds of Indy residents with serious mental conditions did not receive treatment.

Danielle Rhodes, the director of the Social Work Department at Marion County Public Health, said CredibleMind will help increase access to care.

“While this doesn’t take the place of a therapist, it can get someone started on a plan to a healthy mind,” she said.

Residents who sign up for the program and complete a mental health check-in through Aug.12 will be entered to win a $100 gift card.
