Two Indianapolis Public Library branches will close this month for renovations, including updated entrances and group study rooms.

The Nora branch, 8625 Guilford Ave., closed Sunday, Dec. 8.

The Pike branch, 6525 Zionsville Road, will close starting Dec. 24.

Mary Barr, the library’s spokeswoman, said the target reopen date for both branches is late next year or early 2025.

Here’s what will be new at the Nora branch:

  • Updated entrance with a drive-up return
  • Updated restrooms
  • Group study and tutoring rooms
  • Updated community room
  • Comfort room adjacent to the children’s area
  • Increased access to outlets for device charging
  • Updated mechanical and light systems

Here’s what will be new at the Pike branch:

  • Renovated entrance
  • Updated restrooms
  • Group study rooms
  • Comfort room adjacent to the children’s area
  • Podcast recording studio
  • Teens zone
  • Increased access to outlets for device charging
  • Updated mechanical and lighting systems

Both branches are also seeking certification for energy and resource conservation.

Until the branches reopen, the Nora hold pickup location will be at the College Avenue branch, 4180 N. College Ave. The Pike hold pickup location will be at the Michigan Road branch, 6201 Michigan Road.

If you can’t visit one of the alternate locations or have transportation concerns, call the library’s Outreach Department at 317-275-4075 for home delivery service.
