The nonprofit Indy Neighborhood Cats will host a pop-up winter cat shelter pickup from noon to 2 p.m. Jan. 4 at Indianapolis Animal Care Services, 2600 S. Harding St.

The event is for anyone caring for outdoor cats ahead of an anticipated winter storm over the weekend. The winter cat shelters are portable foam boxes filled with straw that can protect outdoor cats from the elements.

The boxes and bags of straw will be given in a drive-thru format at the pop-up event.

Indy Neighborhood Cats said the shelters are free, but donations are appreciated.
