Martindale Brightwood residents can learn how the neighborhood will implement its quality of life plan at a town hall from 6-8 p.m. Nov. 13 at Frederick Douglass Park, 1616 E. 25th St.

These plans set goals and strategies created by residents to improve a neighborhood’s quality of life. The city does not adopt plans, but plans can be certified by the Department of Metropolitan Development to recognize the neighborhood’s preferences.

The neighborhood’s quality of life plan was certified by the city this year. The five-year plan focuses on 10 areas:

  • Arts and culture
  • Education
  • Economic development
  • Environmental justice
  • Youth engagement
  • Neighborhood engagement
  • Health and wellness
  • Public safety
  • Workforce development
  • Housing and infrastructure.
