Purdue University recently revamped its support services for students with a new basic needs program.

The program replaced Span Plan, a long-running Purdue service that provided older college students with support and resources.

The basic needs initiative aims to connect Purdue students in need of help with community resources. Students can get help with food, housing, clothing, transportation, child care or technology.

Though many of the resources on the website are centered in West Lafayette, Indy students who need help can make an appointment with basic needs staff.

Purdue students in Indianapolis can also use some of IU Indianapolis’ campus resources, such as the campus food pantry.

How to get help

To book an appointment, go to BoilerConnect and select the “New Appointment” tab. Be sure to select “Purdue in Indianapolis” and then “Basic Needs Program.” You will then be able to schedule an appointment.

Staff are available to meet virtually weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The office is closed on weekends and during holidays.
