Indianapolis-based Damar Services, Inc. will host a day of free, sensory-friendly fun at its Ameriplex location in Decatur Township on Dec. 7.
The Sensory Snow Day will have a “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” theme and will include activities that allow people who have sensory sensitivities to enjoy a day out without the loud noises, bright flashing lights and other holiday decorations that could be upsetting.
People of all ages and their families are invited.
Activities at the Sensory Snow Day include:
- Make-and-take ornaments and stockings with Damar ABA staff
- Ice castle bounce house
- Face painting with favorite designs or characters from the Grinch
- Ongoing showings of the classic animated “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”
- Complimentary sweet treats
- Holiday photo station
- Indoor walking track and swing
- Calm down zones with sensory bins and soft seating

The Damar Sensory Snow Day will be Dec. 7 at the Damar Village Activity Center, 6054 Remarkable Way.
- Calm hour with softer lighting and quiet sounds for kids with extreme sensitivity: 9-10 a.m.
- Festive hours with brighter lights and more upbeat sounds: 10 a.m. to noon
