If you’re looking for something to do with kids this weekend, consider attending UIndy’s first-ever community literacy day Feb. 28.
The event will be held at UIndy’s southside campus in collaboration with the Indiana State Literacy Association.
Kids who are in eighth grade or below will be able to choose a free book to take home, courtesy of the Indy Book Project.
Other activities include crafts, puppet shows and previews of upcoming theater performances at UIndy. Attendees will also be able to meet local children’s authors and storytellers, including John David Anderson, Deedee Cummings and Deborah Asante.

The event will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 28 at UIndy’s Health Pavilion, 1643 E. Hanna Ave.
There’s free parking outside the Health Pavilion. Check the schedule for performances and author availability.
