The Indianapolis Department of Public Works has added a community recycling drop-off site at Riverside Park, 2420 E. Riverside Drive.
The drop-off site is now one of 12 sites across the city where residents can take their recyclables.
Last month, DPW announced it would continue burning municipal trash until at least 2035 and would push back a city-wide curbside recycling program until 2028. Until then, many residents will have to depend on these drop-off sites.
The site will be for the following household recyclable materials only:
- All colors of glass
- #1 and #2 plastic bottles and jugs
- Aluminum, tin, and steel beverage and food cans
- Newspapers, broken down cardboard boxes, paper and magazines
All materials must be loose, clean and dry. According to DPW, recyclables must not be placed in plastic bags, as they cannot be processed.
For more information about recyclable items or to find other drop-off locations, head to the DPW recycling site.
