Butler University will launch an online bachelor’s degree marketed toward students who went to college but did not graduate, the university announced in a news release June 17.

The bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership is open to students who have at least 60 college credits, which is around two years of school. Military service and work experience will be considered in lieu of those credits.

The program is designed so students can graduate in as little as 18 months to two years. Tuition is $550 per credit hour, though eligible students may receive financial aid.

Butler has an agreement in which Ivy Tech Community College graduates who have an associate of arts or applied sciences and a minimum 2.0 GPA will be automatically admitted to Butler’s online program.

Butler’s program will include academic and career support services specifically tailored to adult students, in addition to networking events and career workshops to help students achieve their goals.

The move is one of several efforts from Butler to add more programs that cater to older and nontraditional college students. The university launched a new hub for its online programs, called Butler+, earlier this year.

The school also is adding a two-year college for low-income and first-generation college students, which will open in fall 2025.

How to apply

The online bachelor’s degree program will launch in fall 2024, and applications are open. Prospective students can apply and find out more information on Butler’s website.
