[Dean of Butler’s 2-year college pledges support to students]
Butler has pledged that its two-year programs will support students from historically underserved communities, so the college will offer flexible scheduling to accommodate work and family commitments.
Late last year, Butler announced it would launch a two-year college. Students in Founder’s College can earn a two-year degree with minimal out-of-pocket costs. Once students earn their associate degrees, they will be guaranteed a path to a Butler bachelor’s degree for around $10,000 after they graduate, if they choose.
Founder’s College will be located in Butler’s education school. Renovations to accommodate the two-year college are being funded by a $2.5-million grant from Marianne Glick and Mike Woods.
4 associate degree paths
Data analytics students will focus on programming and learning databases, while business management students will study both business and liberal arts to learn communication and strategic thinking skills.
Health care studies students will choose an administration or clinical science track.
The youth and community advocacy program is for students who want to be teachers or coaches or to work in communities and nonprofits. Students will take classes in advocacy, education and youth development.
Within their respective degree programs, students will earn credentials, including medical billing, Microsoft Excel and child and youth care.
