When you park in the back lot of the Flanner Buchanan funeral home at 1305 Broad Ripple Ave., enter through the back door and then go downstairs to the left, you will find a treasure trove of Indiana music.

The new music kiosk by the Indiana Music History Project has music by stars like bluesman Leroy Carr and rocker John Mellencamp, but also by emerging artists in Americana, hip-hop and everything between.

The kiosk was created with a grant from the Indiana Historical Society, and is open and free from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Many of the tracks included in the kiosk are difficult to find or not available online. If you have any recordings or local music memorabilia that you would like to donate, they want you to get in touch with them

The Indiana Music History Project is the primary initiative of the nonprofit Indiana Entertainment Foundation. It offers exhibits on influential Hoosier music and musicians going back to the 1920s.

The grant that funds the music kiosk also supports digitization of the musical archive. It will allow the kiosk to be updated regularly with new playlists. Eventually, the kiosk will also display short stories about exhibits within the gallery.
