There’s a new park now open in the Riverside neighborhood on the near northwest side of Indianapolis.
City leaders came together Thursday morning to celebrate the opening of the new Riverside Adventure Park. It’s located off North White River Parkway Drive West near West 30th Street.
Thursday’s event celebrated the completion of the first phase of improvements, which includes new trails, a nature-inspired playground and a fitness loop with outdoor exercise equipment.
“The Riverside Adventure Park is not just a new destination. It is a bold affirmation of what is possible when we invest in people and place,” said Vop Osili, City-County Council president. “This park embodies a vision shaped by community input, rooted in equity, and designed for connection, connection to nature, to movement and to each other.”

One neighbor told 13News the expansion and renovations are bringing people back to the park.
“The residents of Riverside, we have been here, and been watching this park grow and really appreciate the parks department coming back to our neighborhood and not forgetting that we’re here, ” said Adelle Stokes.
The park is the result of a $13 million dollar investment from the Circle City Forward Initiative and the Lilly Endowment Grant to Indy Parks.
A second phase, which includes an archery range, is scheduled to begin next year. The timeline for a third phase wasn’t announced but we’ve learned it includes a plan to build a nature center.
The Adventure Park, a 180-acre section of Riverside Regional Park’s 862 acres, is open from dawn until dusk.
