The Community Alliance of the Far Eastside is hosting a free breastfeeding workshop on Nov. 18.

The event, from 9-11 a.m. at 8902 E. 38th St., features a presentation from Indy Lactation Care. The group supports mothers with prenatal education, breastfeeding classes and home visits. If you are on Medicaid or WIC, they have discounted prices for services. A certified dietician will also be present at the workshop.

Breastfeeding can lower a baby’s risk for certain conditions, including asthma, obesity, diabetes, and sudden infant death syndrome, or SIDS. It provides nutrition and can help build a strong immune system.
