On Dec. 26, The Umoja Village Kwanzaa Celebration took place at The AMP at 16 Tech. The Indianapolis Kwanzaa Committee sponsored the citywide Umoja Village festivity, with community members partaking in celebrations with local vendors and performers.

Established in 1966 by Dr. Maulana Karenga as a way to honor African heritage and values, Kwanzaa encompasses seven principles known as the Nguzo Saba: promoting unity, self-determination, collective work and responsibility, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity and faith.
