Private equity and housing

🗓️ 6:30 p.m. Oct. 13
📍 Indiana Landmarks Center, 1201 Central Ave.
🎟️ Free. Registration required.

The keynote speaker is Gretchen Morgenson, author of “These Are the Plunderers: How Private Equity Runs—and Wrecks—America.”

The event is free but online registration is required.

The fair housing center released a report in 2025 showing that in some Indianapolis neighborhoods, as many as 1 in 5 homes are owned by real estate investors.

Not all investors are run by private equity firms, but the report found that many of them are.

The fair housing center argues that the congestion of real estate investors can lead to high eviction rates, poor habitability and other issues.
