The Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired is seeking counselors and campers for a series of upcoming summer programs.

The school is offering four summer programs this year, appealing to a range of ages. The camps include opportunities for students to engage in sports, cooking and employment preparation.

More information for each program, including applications for students and camp counselors, is available on the school’s website.

Camp Abilities

This weeklong day camp is great for the adventurous student who loves sports. Students ages seven to 15 will participate in activities like soccer, goalball, beep baseball and tandem biking.

This program is seeking counselors and campers for the program, which runs from June 2-6 at the School for the Blind campus at 2701 Devon Ave.

Applications are due April 18 and a $50 registration fee is required upon acceptance to the program.

Cre-EAT-ivity Camp

This weeklong day camp is a fit for creative thinkers. Campers will explore safe cooking practices in the school’s new adaptive kitchen. They’ll also partner up in groups for expressive art projects.

This program also seeks both campers and counselors for its June 16-20 program. It also meets daily at the Devon Avenue campus.

Applications are due April 18 and a $50 registration fee is required upon acceptance.

STEP

The School for the Blind is partnering with Bosma Enterprises for its Student Training and Employment Program. This opportunity fits older students, ages 16-22, who are blind or visually impaired.

Students will stay at Butler University and participate in job coaching in June before engaging in two, weeklong internships in late June.

The program seeks both students and job coaches. Applications are due March 31.

SEE Camp

The Skills for Education and Empowerment camp, or SEE, brings expert instruction to students in grades 5-12 who would like to grow their math, writing and reading skills alongside their use of assistive technology.

Students will stay at the School for the Blind dorms during the five-day camp which runs from June 8-13. Spots are limited and student applications are due April 18.
