An Indianapolis faith group will host a virtual training session for people interested in learning more about a program to end homelessness.

The session, known as a “train the trainer” event, is hosted by the Greater Indianapolis Multifaith Alliance. Attendees will get information about Streets to Home Indy, an initiative to end long-term and unsheltered homelessness by 2028.

The training event is from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m Tuesday, Feb. 3. You can register online.

There is also a training session from 4-5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, at Indianapolis First Friends Meeting, 3030 Kessler Boulevard East Drive. That session is full, but you can join a waitlist online.

The trainings will cover the homelessness crisis in Indianapolis, how Streets to Home works and how to support the program.

Meghan Meadows, program associate for the multifaith alliance, said the trainings are primarily for faith organizations. But the events are open to anyone and could be applied to other organizations or even a workplace.

“The idea is to build capacity and empower other people,” Meadows said.

The multifaith alliance has hosted two training sessions this year, with about 30 people attending each one.

Streets to Home is led by the Coalition for Homeless Intervention and Prevention, or CHIP.

The initiative launched during summer 2025 and relies on private and local government funding. Mayor Joe Hogsett committed about $10 million to the program as part of his 2026 budget.

The faith alliance has been fundraising for the program, and a group of northside churches puts together move-in kits for people who get housing.

“Chronic homelessness is a solvable problem,” Meadows said. “If we come together and keep up the momentum we’ve already gained, I really believe we can solve this.”
