Water Safety Clinic
🗓️ Noon to 3 p.m. Dec. 14
📍 North Central High School, 1801 E. 86th St.
💲 Free, registration required
The clinic comes as part of the historically Black sorority’s effort to raise awareness of disparities in water safety education. About 70% of Black children and 60% of Latino children in the U.S. can’t swim, according to a USA Swimming Foundation study.
The clinic is free and open to the entire family. Participants will learn general water safety tips along with specific skills in swimming with goals of reducing a fear of water and changing attitudes in the Black community about swimming.
The event will also feature special guests: Olympic swimmer Natalie Hinds and Santa. Holiday treats will also be provided.
The clinic will take place from noon to 3 p.m. Dec. 14 at North Central High School, 1801 E. 86th St. Registration is required. Visit the event page to register.
