There are a few more opportunities to share input about the different types of developments you want in your neighborhood.
Over the next month, the city’s Department of Metropolitan Development will host four open houses to receive community feedback about a new land use plan, which will inform zoning decisions across Marion County. Land use plans help determine where developments, such as housing or manufacturing buildings, can be built.
The city held 10 public meetings about the plan in June 2025 so residents could brainstorm what they want the city to look like.
But many things have changed since then. The new land use plan comes at a time when multiple companies are asking city officials to make exceptions to land use policies in order to build data centers. Some residents are concerned the city’s new plan could make it easier for those businesses.
The Department of Metropolitan Development is expected to adopt the final land use plan this spring.
Residents can provide feedback online from Monday, Jan. 12, through Wednesday, Feb. 4. The Marion County Land Use open houses will be held 6:30-8 p.m. at the following locations:
Center Township
