Coburn Place will host a moderated discussion with local author Ashley C. Ford from 3-5 p.m. Sept. 28 at Martin University, 2186 N. Sherman Drive. 

We Survive and Rise: A Conversation with Ashley C. Ford also will feature a mental health resource fair before and after the discussion. The resource fair will include community partners, informational videos and live music. 

Ford will discuss surviving trauma, the path to healing and other aspects of mental health. Therapist Hazel Owens will facilitate the conversation. The event will also have a question-and-answer session and book signing. 

Ford lives in Indianapolis. Her memoir “Somebody’s Daughter” was published in 2021. 

The event may include discussion of sexual assault, child abuse and domestic violence. Doors will open at 2 p.m.
