Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds and Mike Epps are the newest members of the Madam Walker Legacy Center board.
The entertainers were chosen to reflect the center’s commitment to expand its national programming and increase its visibility as a cultural destination.
“Their influence and commitment to Indianapolis will help us amplify our mission on a national scale,” said Nichole Wilson, board chair, in a press release.
Edmonds, a 13-time Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter and producer, has written music for Whitney Houston and Ariana Grande. He was selected to advocate for the center’s mission to inspire, educate and empower.
In 2021, Epps was the first person to be inducted into the Madam Walker Legacy Center Walk of Fame.
He has earned multiple NAACP Image awards, and appeared in Ice Cube’s “Friday” franchise and the Netflix sitcom “The Upshaws” featuring comedian Wanda Sykes and actress Kim Fields. Epps was selected to help preserve Madam C.J. Walker’s legacy through his community engagement and storytelling.
