Early voting’s getting more popular. At the polls in May’s primary elections, 20,000 people in Marion County cast their ballots before Election Day — almost double the amount of early voters in 2020.
If you want to vote in this year’s midterm elections, you don’t have to wait until Election Day to make your voice heard. Early voting starts in downtown Indianapolis at the City-County Building Oct. 6. Voting sites in Marion County’s eight other townships will open up Oct. 24.
Where can I vote early?
Registered voters in Marion County can head to the polls at any of the nine vote center locations; you don’t have to stick to your precinct. You can vote wherever is easiest: close to your home, work or school.
More vote centers will be open on Election Day, Nov. 3, and you can use a map to find the one closest to you.
The Marion County Election Board will confirm the nine voting centers at a September meeting, but the locations are not expected to change.

How early voting works
- When you show up to vote early, you’ll present your ID to a poll worker who will check you in. You can use a driver’s license, military ID or passport. As of April 2026, students can’t use their college IDs to vote.
- You’ll get a blank ballot and a security envelope to put it in. Take your ballot to a voting machine and make your choices.
- Drop off your ballot at a table with poll workers and grab an “I voted!” sticker.
