Dear Indy,

I’d encourage you, if you haven’t already, to read the investigation by Ryan Martin, Peter Blanchard and Jenna Watson into Mayor Joe Hogsett’s former chief of staff.

Here’s an excerpt from the article.

Thomas Cook rarely appears in news articles or press releases, but for years he worked as the second most powerful man in city government. Mayor Joe Hogsett trusted him to not only lead policy decisions and essentially run the daily operations of the city but also to lead his mayoral campaigns.

Out of the public eye, though, Cook used his formal power and his proximity to the mayor in ways that would make at least three women feel trapped and victimized by his behavior. They are still working through the trauma of those experiences.

Reflections

My 3-year-old Lucy picks out her own clothes each day. The last few days, she’s been so excited to show her teacher at day care what she’s wearing. And she absolutely beams when her teacher says she likes her shirt or her outfit.

Monday it was rainbows. Tuesday it was hearts. Wednesday it was all blue.

She ran up to her teacher Wednesday saying “blue, blue, blue” and gave her a big hug.
