The Indianapolis Urban League will have a Back-to-School Block Party and Backpack Giveaway on July 26.
The outdoor event is free to attend and will connect families with resources to help their kids gear up to go back to school.
More than 90 community organizations will come together in the event’s Education Zone. Partners in the zone will offer resources to families and youth, covering topics such as voter registration and affordable extracurricular activities.
The zone will also provide free health screenings, haircuts and backpacks filled with school supplies. Children must be present to receive the supplies.
The event will also have a Kids Zone with face painting, a bounce house and a skills challenge featuring athletes from Indiana University Indianapolis’ men’s and women’s basketball teams.
The block party runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 26 at the Indianapolis Urban League, 777 Indiana Ave. Visit the Indianapolis Urban League website for more information.
