There’s a new community clothing closet in Southport.
April’s Closet is a volunteer-led initiative providing free clothes for infants, children and adults.
Families are limited to one shopper per household each month. They can receive up to eight clothing items, and one package of new underwear and socks. An ID is not required.
Residents can donate all types of clothing, but the group is in need of new packaged underwear and socks.
The clothing service is in honor of April Moore, a former member of St. John’s United Church of Christ.
April’s Closet is open from 10 a.m. to noon the first Thursday and third Saturday of each month at St. John’s United Church of Christ Southport, 7031 S. East St. Visitors can enter through the north side of the building.
