Before joining FPI News, I spent four decades at the Herald-Times in Bloomington, writing stories on a variety of topics, including rural issues, education and criminal justice.
I joined FPI News so I could travel across the state to tell stories from some of Indiana’s smallest communities that have been ignored or underserved. I report on their obstacles, setbacks and hurdles, but also reveal their milestones and breakthroughs.
When I’m not working, I am outdoors often — walking, hiking, gardening, etc. I dance around in Jazzercise class and practice yoga and tai chi. I grew up in the Eagledale neighborhood on the west side of Indianapolis and moved to Bloomington in 1985. I live on five acres in rural Monroe County with two dogs and four cats. I have two adult children, and I spend lots of time in Chicago with my 4-year-old grandson. I limit the technology in my life and sometimes go completely offline.
