The Indianapolis Public Library’s downtown branch has been closed since Feb. 22, when a 575-pound glass panel fractured inside the atrium. Now, the Library finally announced a reopening date.

Central Library will be fully open again at 10 a.m. April 13. And to celebrate, it’s hosting an after-hours art event from 6-9 p.m. April 12.

When you walk into the reopened atrium, you’ll see a temporary wall and scaffolding that will be used to install a replacement glass panel. Once the custom glass for the replacement arrives, Central Library will close for about a week for repairs. Those dates haven’t been announced yet. The cause of the glass fracture has not been determined.
