All you have to do to support an Indy kid’s safe start to school is … drink lemonade?
You can help unhoused students start the school year and enjoy a refreshing treat as part of Coburn Place’s annual Lemonade Stand fundraiser.
Coburn Place, a nonprofit that provides safe housing to survivors of domestic violence, organizes the fundraiser every year to help purchase school supplies for children in their care.
The nonprofit has been supporting survivors across Central Indiana since the group’s founding 30 years ago.
This year’s fundraiser kicks off from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 16 at Coburn Place, 604 E. 38th St. Supporters can visit the nonprofit and purchase lemonade and snacks to support the cause. Kids will make and sell the lemonade with adult supervision.
Then, on July 17, the fundraiser will move to Fletcher Place. From 5-9 p.m., adults ages 21 and older can attend a free Spiked Lemonade Stand event at Black Dog Brewing, 702 Virginia Ave.
The event will feature local artists, food trucks and an art auction. Specialty lemonade-inspired cocktails and mocktails will be available for purchase. Coburn Place will collect 25% of bar sales from the event.
The nonprofit will continue fundraising throughout the month by way of its “Virtual Lemonade Stand.” The online donation platform will stay open through July 31.
