Families can celebrate Día del Niño at Be My Neighbor Day on April 25.

Día del Niño, meaning Children’s Day, was initially created in Mexico around the 1920s to promote childhood creativity and wellbeing. Now, Indianapolis’ free event aims to uplift early childhood literacy.
El Día del Niño se estableció originalmente en México en la década de 1920 con el fin de promover la creatividad y el bienestar infantil. Este evento gratuito tiene como objetivo fomentar la alfabetización en la primera infancia.
Community members of all ages can participate in crafts and games at the event hosted by The Indianapolis Foundation Library Fund and WFYI. There will be storytimes in English and Spanish, plus free books and giveaways to all children.
Gente de todas las edades están invitadas a participar en manualidades, juegos y otras actividades durante las festividades, organizadas por el Fondo Bibliotecario de la Fundación de Indianápolis (The Indianapolis Foundation Library Fund) y WFYI.

Attendees can also meet Daniel the Tiger and jam out to live performances from 123 Andrés, a Grammy Award-winning group that produces bilingual children’s music.

Día del Niño at Be My Neighbor Day is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 25 at the Indianapolis Public Library West Perry Branch, 6650 S. Harding St. A sensory-friendly experience will be from 9-10 a.m.
