Back to school events aren’t just for kids anymore.

Indy Reads will host welcome sessions for its fall courses in August. Adult students can sign up for either English language or high school equivalency, or GED, classes.

Classes are free and will start the week of Aug. 31.

English classes

English language info sessions will be at Southeast Community Services, 901 Shelby St.:

  • 5-8 p.m. Aug. 20
  • noon to 3 p.m. Aug. 21
  • 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 22

No registration is required. Just show up to sign up for English class. You only have to go to one of the three sessions. If you cannot attend any of the three, email dvelezcollazo@indyreads.org.

High school equivalency classes

Informational sessions for adults wanting to earn their high school diploma are virtual.
Register for one of the following dates and times using this Google form:

  • 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 13
  • 5:30-8:30 p.m. Aug. 13
  • 5:30-8:30 p.m. Aug. 17
  • 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 18

During the three-hour session, you’ll meet your teacher, learn about the class and finish enrolling.
