Dear Indy,

Growing up, my older relatives always talked to me about college. None of them finished school, but they wanted to make sure I would.

They always described college as the key to generational change in our family.

That’s why I loved reading higher ed reporter Claire Rafford’s article about a summer camp at UIndy. Funded by a Lilly Endowment grant, prospective students are given a taste of college.

Cing’s well on her way toward a college education.

So we put together a guide to staying safe and cool.

For example: Did you know you can cool off in the air conditioning of the Indianapolis Public Library branches?

We also have information on getting help with your utility bills during these months when you need to crank the AC.

It’s all contained in our latest resource guide.

Reflections

I’m back at the keyboard this week. Many thanks to my boss Chris for penning the newsletter in my absence.

You’ll actually be hearing from him more. He’s going to start writing more of these newsletters in the coming weeks.

But I’ll still be around, too, including tomorrow. See you then.
