State Rep. John Bartlett is facing two challengers May 5 in the Democratic primary for Indiana House District 95.

Polls closed at 6 p.m.

Keith Graves, who represents parts of the east side on the City-County Council; and Tyrrell Giles, who serves on Lawrence Common Council, will face Bartlett.

Bartlett has served in his seat since 2007. If re-elected, he told Mirror Indy his top priorities include women’s healthcare, utility costs and road funding. He also plans to reintroduce a bill that would require law enforcement officers who discharge their firearm and cause injury or death to a person to be tested for substances.

Graves joined the city-county council in 2019, representing parts of the east side. Graves attracted controversy last year after a Democratic campaign volunteer told IndyStar he physically and sexually assaulted her during and after their two-year relationship. Another woman was granted a civil protective order after she accused Graves of domestic violence, the newspaper reported. The woman told IndyStar she dismissed the order to protect her privacy.

Graves has denied the accusations. No criminal charges were filed in either case.

Giles was first elected to the Lawrence council in 2015. He served as council president in 2023. He also owns his own security company.

No other candidates have filed to run in November in District 95, which stretches across the east side of Indianapolis and leans heavily Democratic.

Pryor faces challenger in House District 94

State Rep. Cherrish Pryor is facing one challenger in the Democratic primary race for Indiana House District 94.

André Sisk Sr., a real estate broker, is running against Pryor.

Pryor has served in her seat since 2008 and is the Indiana House Democratic Caucus floor chair. At the Statehouse, Pryor is a member of the ways and means committee, elections and appointment committee and the utilities, energy and telecommunications committee.

The district serves parts of northwest Indianapolis. There are no other candidates at this time in November for District 94, which leans Democratic.

Moed faces challenger in House District 97

State Rep. Justin Moed is facing Sarah Shydale in the Democratic primary.

Shydale is an accountant for the Indiana Department of Child Services.

Moed has served in his seat since 2012. Shydale unsuccessfully challenged Moed in the 2024 primary.

Moed previously worked at the Statehouse as a doorkeeper and policy analyst. He is the ranking minority member of the public policy committee. He is also a member of the local government and agriculture and rural development committees.

House District 97, which includes downtown and parts of southwest Indianapolis, leans Democratic. At this point, no one else is running in November.
